I met Asif da today

I met Asif da today . He is an encouraging figure . He has done his PhD program from Jadavpur University under Prof Sivaji Bandyopadhyay and then done his post doctoral research from Heidelberg University and now in Italy in Torrento University . But he has got an offer for Assistant Professor Post in IIT Patna . His wife Sreeparna Di got also an offer for same post in IIT Patna . She has done her PhD program in Pattern Recognition field form ISI Kolkata . I love & respect him and her a lot . He has told me that he reads my Blog . Oh! great news . At least I found one person who appreciates my blog writing . I am very happy for that . Also some of my friends has told me that they also read my blog . Nice . Really nice. I know Asif da from 2007 from joing in Jadavpur University as a Junior Research Engineer . From then on he has given me immense encouragement for working in the field of Natural Language Processing . He is really a good senior and he helped me a lot in my tour to Hyderabad in IIIT-hyd. I really enjoy his company . He is such a nice person , such an educated person . His wife is also a nice person . She also loves me a lot . She is expecting this time . Hope they will have a lovely baby .

My father's decision

In the previous week I got a call from one Collabra consultancy company for an interview in IBM for a job opportunity . I got excited , because IBM is one of the good company . I told my parents that I want to face the interview , but my father got angry . He told me to sit for M tech admission test and complete the M tech course and then go for PhD program . Alas , I am dead . A long way I have to go to satisfy my parents . I don't know I will do that or not . But I have to try . That is all my story . OK ,I like to study , but I hate calculation and English vocabulary. SO my score or percentile in CAT is low . I like computer science subjects , so I do not want to change my topic of study . And also I like my research topic that is Natural Language Processing . In this subject I like most machine translation . I don't know what will happen in future . but hope for the best .

In roads autos are available frequently , but buses are not so available in this strike hour . So as a result autos are crowed with passengers . Taxis are also available . SO don't worry my dear passengers , you will reach your short length destination by autos or taxis . I don't know about the fare of autos this time . There may be an increase in fare for this strike duration , I am thinking of that because during Puja days there was a fare hike in autos fare . So I think that there may be an increase in autos fare during this duration . As everyday it is reported that taxi fare is double in strike hour. This is not totally fare . I can't bear this type of fare rise in strike hour . They do not think about the daily poor passenger . Who will think about them ? Our Govt is deaf .They give no attention to the poor people . I am not politically attacking our Govt but I am telling the truth . I am totally dissatisfied with this type of anomaly during strike hour . Things should be changed . I hope in the next election new party will form new Govt and they will correct the situation . Hope for the best .

Today is CITU 's 3 hour transportation strike

I hate strike . It is really a big problem of Kolkata . Our daily life becomes standstill in strike . I can not support any kind of strike on any issue . It is really disturbing . Today's strike is for price rise of petrol in recent time . Today there is 12 ' o clock to 3 ' o clock strike . All kind of transportation vehicles will be standstill during the hour . People will have to face this big problem . The strike is during the office hour. All office goer will be disturbed by this strike . They cannot move until the strike is ended at 3 ' o clock . I don't have to face the problem as I come early in the office ( which is our Natural Language Processing lab in Computer Science & Engineering dept in Jadavpur University ) at 10.30 am . And I go to home at 6' o clock . Though these months there is no project so I go early home at 3' o ' clock . Back to the topic , strike is a big curse to the society .I do not support any political party for organizing a strike for any issue . Strike should be banned by law immediately . Then society will be helpful and there will be sign of a progressed society . Spoiling a working day is not a good idea. Strike disturbs our daily working life . We have to take care of that . We have to think of that .

My experience in IIT Kgp (A few new words )

I had a dream to work in IIT Kgp (Indian Institute Of Technology , Kharagpur ). I loved to dream to work under any professor of IIT kgp . SO I contacted with Prof Sudeshna Sarkar . She is a professor of computer Science & engineering in IIT Kgp . At first I told her that I have quit my job because I wanted to do some research work under you (Sudeshna Sarkar) .She told me that currently she had no project to recruit me but she told me to call her after 2 months . I called her after 2 months . She told me that a new project has come on Bengali Spelling Checking. She gave me to read Lavenstein Automata . It was too difficult . I went to Kgp and stayed there . I spent my day & night to read documents on spelling checking . But I was failed . I was too frustrated . I could not cope with the situation . I could not understand Lavenstein Automata and that IIT is very difficult . I made a mistake quitting my job . Because I am not too intelligent to work in IIT Kgp. It is very tough . From this I take a lesson that there should be a limit between your dream and your ability . You should control your dream so that later you don't have to repent on your decision. As I did . It is very nice to have a dream to work in top most institutes but it is ,also in same time, very difficult to work there . Otherwise your attempt will go in vain . Actually I was inspired by my friends who work in IITs or had degree in IITs , but now I realise how there are intelligent that me . I salute them . They are realy great . There are really true scientist .

ILMT project will come soon

Our team leader IIIT-Hyderabad (International Institute Of Information Technology - Hyderabad , near Gachibowli Stadium ) has got a mail of starting of ILMT project ( Indian language to Indian Language Machine Translation Project ). Sir has told me that . It is a great news . We will be recruited in that project once the project comes to Jadavpur University . In JU project will come soon . Also Sir told that the project will start at a previous date of May 2010 . That means all the employee will get salary form May 2010 . It is a great news . I am very excited . Without a salary Life is in a bad condition . Now things will improve soon . I am very happy . I told the news to my mother . She is also very happy . Once the project will start I will be in work in full mode . There will be no delay submitting tasks. I need money to do master degree and it is necessary . Because I like to study . Qualifying in GATE examination is not possible for me for now . As it needs deep preparation . I have no time for that . Thought it will be grate if you qualify Gate Examination . I will appear later in Gate once I have my full preparation . I want to do a PhD but without a master degree it is difficult. SO I will do a master degree first . This is my aim . In the mean time if I get a job in any good company then I will go for that . Because doing a good job in a good company is also a good thing . I have a plan to learn J2EE from NIIT - Jadavpur . It will cost around 10 thousand . It may help me to get a job in a good company . My friend told me that .
