Puja is coming

Durga puja is coming . The greatest festival of Bengali culture is coming shortly . It is celebrated not only in West Bengal but in the whole country and some places outside of country . This festival is in the heart of Bengali culture  . We wear new clothes , shoes , watches . This is the Bengali tradition . Mahalaya is the starting point of this festival . Sashthi , Saptami , Ashthami , Nabami and Dashami are the main days of this puja . Goddess Durga comes to earth with her four children -- Lakhmi , Saraswati , Ganesh , Kartik with their BAHANs . Ashthami is the most celebrated day in this puja .In that day we offer homage to goddess Durga wearing new clothes . We call it PUSHPANJALI . That means offering homage to goddess Durga  with flowers . Obviously on that day vegetarian items are cooked in houses . Non veg is not allowed to eat on that day . On the contrast , the next day which is Nabami , non veg items are cooked in houses . The last day of the festival is Dashami . On that day the idol is immersed in Ganga river . That is the last day of this festival . We offer sweets to others on that day . We take blessings of our older generation by touching their  feet . This is called PRANAM . And we give blessings to our younger generation by touching their head . We call it ASHIRBAD. This is typical Bengali Culture . Respect , affection , love  are the all basic human emotions in Bengali culture . In this puja days in most of the families , a family get together is arranged in houses . So relatives from far of places come to join their ancient places . This is the puja - where celebration , eating , wearing , fun are the main things . Bengali culture is a rich culture . From old days we the Bengali people have been celebrating this puja as our greatest festival in the year . People wait for these days to make a big purchase as it is considered to be very auspicious to buy good  valuables things on that days .Another big interesting thing is that on these holidays some Bengali make a plan to travel somewhere in the country or outside the country . Bengali people like travelling and some of them do not miss the chance to make a trip on these puja holidays. Digha , Puri , Darjeeling are most visited spots in West Bengali . Outside the country Rajasthan , Simla , Kullu , Manali , Keral , Tamil Nadu , Nainital , Koushani , Ranikhet , Kashmir , Gujrat , Kedernath , Badrinath etc are most interesting places to visit . Some of them are hill stations . So Bengali enjoy this Puja with full pleasures . Happy Durga Puja 2016 .
