Today is 31 st December

Today is Friday . It is 31st December . I don't like to celebrate new year . It is common to me and like any other day . SO I have no plan for that . In new year I have to study hard . I have to do something for that my friends should feel proud for me . This is my new year resolution . I want to make my life in the name of education . But I don't know what will happen . I have to earn something for my family also . That is an important thing .

My love life

Many of my friends have asked me why still I am single . But I have no answer . I am tried to be committed but all go in vain . Here today I am going to tell you about my love life .

My first love was when I was in class eleven . In our chemistry coaching center there was a beautiful girl . She has a great figure , lovely face , short hair . She was with our batch . My friend Arnab proposed a girl , at that time I got excited so I did the same to that girl . She refused and got angry . But she maintained our friendship. She used to come my house and I also visited her house several time . But she never was ready to accept my proposal . Later she told me that a new boy has come in her life so she did not want me as a friend . So our friendship broke . And later I became very angry and I stopped to visiting her house and at last , now we have no connection .

My second love was when I was in college second year . I proposed a girl . She got angry . She stopped to talk with me . But I was deeply in love with her . Later one day for a reason she phoned me at my house . But that was nothing important . She has many friends and among them there were many boys . One of my friends said that she has a boyfriend . So bad luck for me . I never talked with her after the news that she had a boyfriend.Later after completing college I felt that I no more loved her . It was end .


My third and last love came when I saw a brilliant girl . She was a Board Exam topper . I was totally bold by seeing her . I liked intelligent and studious girl.I asked her "are you engaged? " She said nothing . She was junior to me . But we maintain a friendship today . I am happy with that .

That was all about my love life . SO I have decided not to marry anyone . As there is no value for true love to me .

What am I doing today ?

Today I am in a relax mood . I am in no tension . I am alone in the lab . I am downloading mp3 songs of the following movies -- Fashion , I hate Love Story , Gujarish etc . Today my friends have gone for a tour in the Kolkata when I called them they were on the way of Science City . I missed them . But I like internet , I am crazy for that . I cant think of life without internet . It is so important . For education , for communication , for entertainment there is internet for your all purposes . It is amazing . Without internet life is standstill . Frankly speaking for your sex life there is internet .There are so many adult sites, you can have fun with them . For your academic life there is internet .You can download ebooks for free of cost . Such sites are www.pdfdatabase.com or www.library.nu.com . you can download many many ebooks from these sites . Its totally free of cost . For your communication
there are emails , chat sections , orkut , facebook . By any of the social net work you can contact with your friends . Orkut and face book are these two social net work sites so that you can stay in contact with your friends . People are using these sites for there communication , entertainment , education . These are amazing . Your complete pakage is internet . Use it wisely . It will rock ..

I believe in God . i do believe in Goddess. They give me strength , inner strength. It is a believe that God exists everywhere in this world . It is a pious thinking . It is really a nice thought that God is the ultimate power of this universe . If you believe in God then it will strengthen you , it gives you power to stand against all the odds . In Bengali Culture Lord Shiva is the ultimate God . "Om Namas Shivay" chant this "Maha Mantra" (great hymn) then lord Shiva will help you to overcome all the obstacles in life . The great goddess is Goddess Durga . She has ten hands . She was born by the power of all Gods in heaven to kill the demon "Mahisasur" . There are many gods and goddess in Hindu mythology . They are all powerful. Shri Krishna is the god of love . He is the god of eternal love .

Life of a jobless boy

Life of a jobless boy is really miserable . Everybody is unhappy with him . All the time parents are rebuking him . My condition is like that . I have no job , so I have no happiness . My condition is really serious . My mother is telling all the time "get a job , get a life " . My father is very very angry with me . He is telling that I am lazy . But I am not . Actually what happened is that my project has finished suddenly , but my sir assured that next project will start soon , in a couple of months . But it did not start . So I am jobless now . Two of my colleagues are also jobless . Their condition is same as mine . I am hopeless. I am helpless. I have updated my CV according to expert in Naukri.com and I have opened a paid membership account in Naukri.com website . Also I had a plan to learn J2EE (Java Enterprise edition) in Ardent Collaboration company or somewhere else . I hate WBSC or SSC exam , because I want to be in touch with my course or my study in programming language . Because I love programming language a lot .

I love English Language

I love the English language very much . I really love this foreign language .I want to read , write & speak in this foreign language . But my vocabulary in English is not so strong . So sometimes I find difficulties in understanding unknown words . But I am good at understanding Reading Comprehension Passages . I have to build up my vocabulary more & more . English is an international language & knowing English ( good English ) is really helpful in various matters . Although it is prestigious for anyone if he can read write & speak English fluently. I feel proud when I write documents in English & when I read Good English Books & speak English . It is really nice . Any one will be proud if he can read write & speak English .

Today is my bad day

For some days my machine (Computer ) does not work properly . So I sat on another machine which is one of MCSE student in our laboratory . But today I was surprised that he has changed his computer password and he has not received my phone call . I am totally angry with this guy . I have never seen such a selfish guy . I have decided not to say him a single word but definitely in future I will get chance to return him with same behavior .

I like listening Music

I like to listen music a lot . I like various type of musics , starting from Rabindra Sangeet to Hindi Film Music . Some of the Rabindra Sangeets I like most are "Tomar Khola Haowa " , "Bhalo Basi Bhalo Basi " , "Anondo Dhara Bohiche Bhubone " etc. I like fashion movie's music a lot . The songs are realy beautiful such as "Duryiya" , "Marjawa" , "Kuch Khas Hai" etc . I like to listen Indrani Sen's voice in Rabindra Sangeet a lot . In this matter Indranil Sen is also a good choice . Apart from these two , in bengali music I like Shree Radha Bandyopadhyay , Shreekanto Achrya , Babul Supriyo , Shan etc. I like Shan's new Rabindra Sangeet Album . In Hindi I like Lata , Anuradha Pardowal , Alka Yagnik , Kumar Shanu , Shreya Ghosal etc . Shreya Ghosal is one of my most favorite singer in the world . Recently I also like Pritam , Rupam , June etc. Rupam has got this year's national award . June sings some famous Bengali songs in the film "Chirodini Tumi je Amar " and many other films . I like devotional songs also . I have several devotional song's album . One of them is Swagata Lakhmi's Om (part 1) . This is a fantastic music album . This consists of Sanskrit Hymns and their Bengali translation . I like the singer Swagata Laksmi Dasgupta very much .

21 st November 2010 , at my Masir Bari (aunty's house )

Sunday , I spent the day at my aunt's house . There was an occasion for the visit . There was a worship of Lord Narayan (God of all Gods ,he is a four handed God , generally known as Shankha -Chakra - Goda -Padma ). Yesterday was a full moon day (in Bengali it is called Purnima ) , so we celebrated the day worshiping God Narayan . I love my brother Santu (Sudeep Basak ) , my sister Puki (Sneha Basak ) , my uncle (Subhas Basak ) and my aunt ( Skhukla Basak ) . They are all very sweet . They love me a lot . My brother performed the Jogya (Ahuti ) . He devoted Bel Patas , Ghee , Kala to God Bramha in the Jogya . He performed the Aruti also . Although the Pandit or Purohit helped him in these works . After the worship , Prasad was distributed to the followers or guests . We ate Khichuri at our lunch time . At night we came back to our house ...

I like programming language

I like to learn several programming languages. I know C , C++, Java 2 . But I want to learn Perl , Python , HTML, Ruby , J2EE etc. I have a passion for learning the programming languages. I have downloaded several programming languages book from www.pdfdatabase.com website . It is a good website . You can download several books from this web site in .pdf format . Its realy nice .

I am jobless

Now I am jobless. My project has been ended . There is no another project that I should shift to that project . All three projects have been ended . Next project will come but when ? None knows the answer . I am hopeless, helpless. My condition is critical . Anyone can imagine a boys plight without a salary at the end of the month .
I have appeared for CAT this year , but unless result is out , I cannot select the B Schools as charges are high for application . I will appear for JMET in december 2010. But my immediate demand is to have a good job . Without a good job I cant think any more .

Though there is no project in hand , I am coming regularly in my college . Sir is giving tasks which I dont like to do . How Can I do a task without a single rupee ? I am realy not satisfied with this .

Work is life ..... Life is work

Work is life . Life is work . Without work there is no life . If you want to be established in society , you have to work hard . Only hard work and dedication can bring you success . If you are not involved in any kind of job or work then it is very difficult to get attention from others after a certain age . Study as far as you can . After that involve in any kind of activity related to your study such as doing project work or training or job , whichever is suitable to you . This will make you more perfect in your field of specialization . Getting a job is not a difficult task if you have a good background . If you don't then study high so that near future it will be easier to you to get a job .

You have to earn money

Without money no one will notice you , no one will give you attention . You dont have to earn money like big industrialists , but you have to earn sufficient amount of maney so that you can carry your family expenses . You have to earn money so that you can fulfil your family's dream , like a new house , like a new car etc. To get a position in society you have to earn a handsome salary . For that you have to work hard . You have to study a lot . Though there is many ways of earning money not only by studying high . You can start your own business. Or you can be a good player in foorball or cricket . But what you do that should be faithful to society . YOu should not harm soceity . You should make your society proud for your self .

Education is must for every one

Education is must for everyone . Every one should be educated . Without proper education we can not be matured . We have to know about the world , so we have to learn Geography . We have to know about the past so that we can proceed in future . SO we have to know about the History . Without maths we can not calculate . So math is must in primary education . We have to know about the nature and its mysteries . SO we have to know about science . Science is the true expalnation of everything , that is happening around us . Language learning is must as we can not communicate with each other with out it . We have to know about the mather tounge , national language , International Langauge .

Foe heigher education , English is must . Because , then we have to travel from one country to another. Without knowing proper english we can not communicate with each other . So we have to learn english from the beginning , from the primary education .

Work Pressure is low --- Reading is going on

At this month there is no work pressure . Sir is very busy with his work . He has told me to read some papers . But as I am very hungrey at reading so I have downloaded some thesis papers and started reading them . I am reading about Multi WOrd Expression , Dependency Parsing , and Question Answering papers / thesises . I love reading . So this is a great opportunity to read all the subjects which I do not know or like to read / know . Rightly I am reading a M tech thesis named "Dependency Parsing On Bengali Language " by Aniruddha Ghose.I have read some chapters of the MCSE thesis "Identification Of Multi Word Expression in Manipuri Text" By Nongmeikapam Kishorjit Singh . I dont know the Manipuri Language . SO I cant understand the whole meaning of the thesis . But I have understood some chapters of it .

Phase 1 of EILMT is about to end , Next phase will start soon

Phase 1 of English to Indian Langauge Machine Translation will end in few days or on 30 th june . Next phase will start soon . I can be switched to a new project on Question Aswering , but also I can be still on the same project . That is not decided at all .

Multi word Expression

Multi word expression is another NLP field to research .There are several workshop on it . Actually MWE is nothing but a group of words used as a single unit of word . Such a lal lal phul . Here lal lal is a MWE. Named Entities are also MWE. Such as Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar . Timothy Baldwin has done a lot of work in MWE. There are several kinds of MWE.

I am not Male Chauvinist

Male Chauvinism is a bad sign. One should not be male chauvinist . I am not male chauvinist . I respect woman . I have several examples where women has been in higher position than men . Take example of Indira Ghandhi , Kalpana Chawla , Sunita Williams . They are all great woman character. The whole nation is proud of them .We are all proud of them .
In my real life I have several female friends who are academically more success than me . They are all working in heigher positions in several multi national companies . They are all brilliant . I am very much proud of them .

SO my advice to all male , dont be male chauvinist . Respect woman , respect their talent .

Experience about my first Conference

In my life , the conference which I attended first is IJCNLP 2008 -- International Joint Conference on Natural Langauge Processing 2008. It was held in Hyderabad . The venue was ISB (Indian School Of Business ) . It was held in January first half. I satyed there in IIIT -H (Internatinal Institute of Informationa Technology - Hyderabad ) Boys hostel . My room partner was a chinese boy . I was a part of a big team form Jadavpur University . Asif Ekbal was the senior .There were Amitava , Tanik , Mithun , Partha , Rejwanul etc. It was a big team . I presented there a presentation - the work done in CLEF Compitition in workshop programme . They gave us a heavy lunch . We had a lot of fun there . We went there by flight from kolkata and returned by flight . It was a additional fun .

Experience in eForce Global as a Software Engineer

For three months I worked in eForce Global as a Software Engineer . It is a small company . But the salary pakage was high . They gave me arround 28k per month . The company is in Infinity Building in Sector V , Saltlake . Anish Biswas is the chief architect . I worked there in text classification using Naive Byes theory. They told me to present a tutorial in Ruby Programming language which I could not , as I did not know Ruby Programming Language . I learned there Java Enterprise Edition , servlets , Tom Cat , etc . One day I had a quarrel with one of the employee. The HR Dept asked me to resign from the job . After one week , I sent them my resignation letter by post . Thats all .

EXperience in IIT Kgp in CSE dept as a project Employee

I first went IIT Kgp ( Indian Institute of Technology , Kharagpur ) as a participant in Summar School in Natural Language Processing And Text Mining . It was a pleasant experience . After the summar school I went IIT Kgp to Prof Sudeshna Sarker in CSE Dept (Computer Science & Engineering Department ) to work under her guidance in a Project "Bengali Spell Checker" . She told me to read Levenstein Automata. It was a difficult topic . After several reading , I could not understand the topic . I stayed there in a hostel . Three persons in a room . I did not like it . I worked in Communication Empowerment laboratory .There I met with Sanjay , Barik , Surojit . All are staff under projects . Sanjay is a Phd student . Barik is a MS student. There were several linguists or language technology people . The people are very nice. There I met Nimesh , anothere MS Student .

Prof Sudeshna Sarker has a great personality . She is very simple in attitude . But she is very talented and intelligent and experienced . She has a great depth of knowledge .

A Book Lover or Bibliophile

It is true that I am a book lover. I love to read books, especially books of my related subjects. I have bought a lot of books both on my subject and on story . But I have not read all of them till now . Soon I will read all of them . I hope so . Besides that I love to read thesis (Phd thesis or Master degree thesis ) . I have downloaded a lot of thesis on my subject . They are very useful . Nowa days I get little time to read story books because of the study preassure . I love to read english news paper a lot . I read one english news paper regularly . Its my habbit . I like the english language a lot . Specialy the new words attract me a lot . I love to collect new unknown english words . I love the VOcabulary section in competitive exams. I like to read GRE word list also . But I cant remember all of them . Thats the problem .

Besides that I love to read statistics book also like book on Hidden Markov Model etc. This is related to my research work .

বাংলা ভাষা ( The Bengali Language )

বাংলা আমাদের মাতৃভাষা । বাংলাকে আমি ভালোবাসি। বাংলা ভাষা বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রীয় ভাষা । বাংলা ভাষার জন্য গর্ব বোধ হয় । আর সেই বাংলা ভাষা নিয়েই আমার গবেষনা।জানিনা আমি কতদুর সফল হব । তবে চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি । আমাদের এক দাদা সুদীপ নস্কর ইংরাজী ভাষা থেকে বাংলা ভাষায় অনুবাদ সিস্টেম তৈরী করেছেন । বাংলা ভাষা নিয়ে আরো অনেক কাছ হয় । আমাদের এক বন্ধু দিপংকর দাস বাংলা ভাষায় ইমোশন অ্যানালিসিস করছে। আমাদের আরেক দাদা আসীফ ইকবাল বাংলা ভাষার লোকের নাম ,জায়গার নাম ,রাস্তার নাম নিয়ে কাজ করেছে । আমাদের আরেক বন্ধু অমিতাভ দাস বাংলা ভাষায় সেন্টিমেন্ট অ্যানালিসিস করছে ।এছাড়াও বাংলা ভাষায় আরো অনেক কাজ হয় এখানে ।।

Bengali is our mother tongue . We love Bengali Language . Bengali is the national language of Bangladesh. We feel proud for bengali langauge. My research work is on Bengali Language .I dont know how much I will be successful . But I am trying . One of our seniors , Sudip Naskar , has built up a English to Bengali Langauge Machine Translation System . Many research works are going on Bengali Language . One of our friends , Dipankar Das is doing research on Emotion Analysis in Bengali Language . Our another senior Asif Ekbal has built up a bengali Named Entity REcognization System . One of our friends , Amitava Das is doing research on Sentiment Analysis in Bengali Language .Besides that many research works are going on Bengali Language ..

Auto Biography

Here I am writing a short auto biography .

I was born in South 24 Pargana , Akra Village in 1982 , 7 th march . In bengali it is 23 se Phalgun . I have two sisters . They are Sabarni Mondal (now married , with two children , Arni Mondal(3/4 years old ) and Anik Mondal( 1 year old ) , husband Puspen Mondal ,Civil Engineer ) and Sayanti Mondal ( Now married , with one children , Jagannath (1 month old ) , husband Dibyendu Mondal (Senior Software Engineer ) ) . I am not married. Form Akra village we shifted to Kolkata . At first We rented a house in Kolkata , Kalighat Region .

At first I got admission in South Subarban School in Harish Mukhejee Road in KG 2 class . Then I studied class I and Class II from the same school . After that I appeared for the admission exam for class III in Ballygunge Govt. High School . I passed the exam in SC ( Schedule Caste ) Category . Then I got admission in Class III in Ballygunge Govt. High School . In the annual exam of class IV , I stood Second the class . The same thing happend for class IV , V , VI . In the annual exam of VII , I stood First in the class . Then from the class VIII to X test , I stood second in the class . In Madhyamik I got 732 out of 900.

For Higher Secondary I got admission in the same school . In 2001 ,I appeared for the Higher Secondary Exam . I got 869 out of 1000. I stood third in my school . In the same time I appeared for the WEst Bengal Joint Entrance Examination . I ranked 312 in general and 9 in SC Category in Engineering and 863 in general in Medical .

In 2001 I got admission in Jadavpur University in Computer Science & Engineering Dept . in SC Category . In 2005 we passed the final exam of the course . There were 4 year and 8 semesters . I finally , anyhow managed to scored a 74.31% marks overall the semesters.


After that I joined CTS ( Cognizant Technology Solution ) in Kolkata . But in the 2 months I resigned the job . It was very strenuous . From morning 9 ' clock to 7 pm I had to work . I could not go with this kind of hard work . SO I resigned the job .

In 2007 , Feb I joined in English To Indian Language Machine Translation Project in Jadavpur University in Computer Science & Engineering Dept under Prof Sivaji Bandyopadhyay .

In 2008 Jan , I joined EForce Global Company as a Software Engineer . But after 2 month the authority told me to resign because of my bad behaviour . It was partially true that to some extend I misbehaved with them .

Then again I joined Jadavpur University , the same previous Project .

But after 1 month there was a quarrel with Sir , So I again left the job and I joined IIT Kharagpur , under Prof Shudeshna Sarkar in Bengali Spelling Checking Project in Computer Science & Engineering Dept in Communication Empowerment Laboratory .

But After 1 month I felt that I could not stay with my parents . SO again I resigned the job .

Then again I joined the Jadavpur University in the same previous Project . After SO many undulation I am now stable with my current job .

Detection of complex predicate in bengali sentence

Take english - bengali parallel corpus . Take a bengali to english dictionary . Now first find the meaning of light verb in dictionary . Get all the synonyms of the word . now try to find out the meanings in the english sentence . If there is a matching then then it is not a complex predicate . If not found , then take the meaning of the previous word (main word ) with the light verb , if there is a matching in the english sentence , then it is a complex predicate . In case of compound verb take only the main verb meaning , if there is a matching , then it is a compound verb . This simmilar work was done by IIT kanpur ..

Machine Translation in Natural Language Processing

Machine Transaltion is an interesting field in NLP . There are several kind of machine translation . Corpus based machine translation ( Statistical Machine Translation , Example Based Machine Translation ) is the most interesting field . Moses , Giza ++ are the tools for statistical Machine Tranlsation . SRILM tool kit is another important tool in SMT . In SMT allignment is a big issue . Allignment means rearranging the sentences in proper order as in the target language . In bengali and in english , the subject ,verb, object order is different from one to one . IBM research lab (Brown et all ) has done a great job in SMT . They use bayes theorem and a lot of probability calculation ..

Word Sense Disambiguation

A word may have multiple meaning . Such as

I am going to bank to deposit a cheque .
This river bank is very nice .

In the first sentence , bank means a financial institution , and in the second sentence meaning is a river bank . Now in case of Machine Translation you have to recognise which senese of a word is used in a particular sentence . Then translate the word with its proper meaning . So word sense disambiguation is a big problem in Machine Tralsation . There are several methods to solve the word sense disambiguation . One is Lesk Algorithm . It uses golssess of a sense of a word in Wordnet . Wordnet is a big resource to WSD .

Explanation Of compound verb and conjucnt verb

Compound Verb :

Meya ta hese uthlo .
Here hese uthlo is a compound verb , because hese is the main verb containing the main meaning of the complex predicate and uhtlo is a light verb which is semantically bleached , that means it losses its literal meaning which is to rise , and creates a new meaning with main verb hese which is bursts into laughter .
Ami take biswas kori .

here biswas kori is a complex predicate and is a conjunct verb . here biswas is a noun which means believe and kori is a light verb which literal meaning is to do , but here this complex predicate creates a new meaning to believe .

Compound Verb and Conjunct Verb in Bengali

In bengali , there are compound verb and conjunct verb . In compound verb there are two verbs , the first one is main verb , which carries the main meaning of the complex predicate and the second verb is light verb which is semantically bleached . That means the light verb losses its literally meaning and creates a new meaning with the main verb .

In conjunct verb , there are two element , the first one is either a noun , or adjective or adverb and the second one is a verb that is light verb . Similar to the compound verb , the light verb losses its meaning and altogether creates a new meaning with the first part .

Example of compound verb :

Meye ta hese uthlo .
bai ta hat theke pore gelo .

Example of Conjuct verb :
ami take biswas kori .
Ami take bhorsa kori ..

Causal Question Answering

My recent task on causal question answering . Causal Question Answering means there should be a causation relationship between question and answering , such as He died of cancer . Question : why did he die ?
Earthquake generates tremor .
Question : Why is tremor generated ?

Another part of it is causal Relation Extraction : you have to extract causal relation from a sentence . Causal Relation means there should be cause effect relationship in the sentence . Such as I canot go out as it is raining . Here effect is "I canot go out " cause is " it is raining " . Here as is a relator . Relator means which connect cause and effect . SOme of the relators are since , after , as , before .

Language , such as English , Bengali , Hindi these are natural Languages And the processing or handling of these language is called Natural Language Processing . Machine Translation is one of the popular area of NLP . It means translation from one language to another language . Machine will translate for you .
